That home.

"If only you could sense how important you are
to the lives of those you meet;
how important you can be to people
you may never even dream of.
There is something of yourself that you leave
 at every meeting
with another person."
-Fred Rogers

I just wanted to wish everyone a lovely Thanksgiving.
Now, if you aren't nostalgic already (given it's the holiday season) are you now ready to feel an ache rise from your bones to the soon-to-be goosebumps on your skin's surface?

I'm sure I've shared this breathtakingly gorgeous song before
and tonight,I just couldn't help but share again.
It's the kind of song that haunts you beautifully
where you can feel it.

I admittedly regret not learning how to play the piano as a child as I've always been deeply moved by piano notes, particularly in magical, heart swelling songs such as this piece of heaven.

"Where the doors are moaning all day long
Where the stairs are leaning dusk 'til dawn
Where the windows are breathing in the light
Where the rooms are a collection of our lives
This is a place I don't feel alone
This is a place that I call my home."

This is the place.

You somehow feel familiar.
Like being lost.
Then finding home again.
.

"Where the doors are moaning all day long.
Where the stairs are leaning from dusk 'til dawn
Where the windows are breathing in the light.
Where the rooms are a collection of our lives.
This is a place where I don't feel alone.
This is a place that I call my home."

Home and perspective.

I had an incredibly draining day of travel, flying from Boston to San Francisco this afternoon, so am so, so,so sleepy. To be honest, it wasn't the travel that has me so out of it- more like the three or four hours of sleep I had per night for the past week straight. Needless to say, at this point, with the time change included, I'm so delirious that if this cycle it continues, I'll more than likely be seeing things such as this:

..... which now that I think of it, would actually be pretty cool, as I do love giraffes. :)

The week was worth it though.  It was WONDERFUL to catch up with family and friends in Rhode Island.  Rhode Island will forever be home, and that comfort was exactly what I've been needing- just being surrounded by those I love, as it keeps me grounded, and so grateful for having such amazing people in my life.

Seeing family for a funeral or celebration of life, really does keep it all into perspective.  What's important.  What you feel your purpose is, who you are, or even what it or you could be.

With that being said, right now all I really, really want to do is relax, read, and drink something sweet.....
.
And curl up in my soft, warm bed.

And catch up on sleep, while listening to this beautifully haunting song by The Cinematic Orchestra. :

"There is a house built out of stone
Wooden floors, walls and window sills...
Tables and chairs worn by all of the dust...
This is a place where I don't feel alone
This is a place where I feel at home...

Cause, I built a home
for you
for me
Until it disappeared
from me
from you

And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust...
Out in the garden where we planted the seeds
There is a tree as old as me
Branches were sewn by the color of green
Ground had arose and passed it's knees

By the cracks of the skin I climbed to the top
I climbed the tree to see the world
When the gusts came around to blow me down
I held on as tightly as you held onto me
I held on as tightly as you held onto me......"
