So leave it alone.

Good morning. :)

Today is a I'm listening to The National all day sort of morning as these guys' music still resonates with me on levels so deep it sometimes hurts to listen.  I could drown in his voice and understanding words, watch them perform their brilliant music for nights on end, and remain consistently transfixed on their powerful way of just... knowing.
To me, here is no such thing as an overdose with them, having easily gone on music binges for days with only The National gently entering my bloodstream.  Have a lovely day and try and remember not to think or talk too much.  Over thinking things is not always best for us, and over talking is even worse.;)

And... I've said it hundreds of times before (and several within this blog) and I'll say it again, this band is just special.

"But no one is asking so leave it alone
Leave it alone
Can we
No one is asking so leave it alone
Leave it alone
Can we

Loose lips sink ships....

Can we show
A little discipline
Can we show
A little discipline
Can we
Can we"

Happy Thanksgiving.

I don't have much time this morning as I have to zip over to Whole Foods but.... this morning is filled with chilly air, spiced chai, deep appreciation, yummy aromas, candlelight, nostalgia and gratitude.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving and wonderful feast <3

ps- I've fallen for this song.  Simply beautiful.

Gonna burn what's standing in the way..."

Perpetual youth.

Let's do ourselves all a favor and keep alive that fresh, youthful perspective and spirit no matter what age we may be.

"Be happy for no reason, like a child.  If you are happy for a reason,
you're in trouble, because that reason can be taken from you."
-Deepak Chopra

Sweet dreams, and remember to stay happy and fascinated with all that surrounds you. You're alive, and that's reason enough. ;)

Edge of winter.

Happy Sunday.

I'm inside on this Sunday morning listening to the rain, which it seems has begun for the winter.  I'm surprised to find myself wishing it was snow.  It's funny how when you live in the Northeast you dread the gray winters, annoyed by the layers you must wear to walk around the block, scraping car windshields, mopping slush off the kitchen floor, and the dark setting in at four during the cold afternoons.

Yet, you sit years later in California, surprised at just how much you miss the cozy warmth in New England homes, the beauty of that first snowfall, icy shorelines, and sleeping forests. That sense of aliveness when you catch your cloudy breath in the air, and the loveliness of a town when the world outside wide windows.... is white. Again, the season is about to shift from Autumn to Winter, and the transition of being on the edge of a season is an energetic, beautiful time.

And if you look closely the beauty of each single snowflake it one of the most delicate and ethereal pieces of art nature makes, intricately detailed and fragile...
just like us.

This beautifully soulful cover of Feist's "Limit to your love" by James Blake is chilling, leaving me at the edge of one beat and craving the next, with second too long spaces between each verse, drawing out the song with seductive perfection.  His voice and emotion come through flawlessly... tense, real, intimate and raw.  Enjoy and have a wonderful Sunday. :)

"There's a limit to your love
Like a waterfall in slow motion
Like a map with no ocean
There's a limit to your love..."

How and when.

The dim light, the soft curtains.
The beginning, the middle
 and end.
The whispering.
The same questions.
Shadows dancing on your skin.
When you are here
all I can think is how
and when
it will feel like this.....
again.

"Hold me now, or never ever
hold me again,
No more talk could take me from this
pain I'm in..."

The cure.

Happy Saturday. :)

I'm still working and weeding out the things that have been weighing on me lately.  Unfinished papers, a very possible move, a collision of sorts in terms of what I want, etc.
Needless to say it was a terribly troubling week. :(

However, hiking the hills in the cold air, catching up with my mom on the phone, and blogging make it all better.
Oh.... and did I mention music???
Music is always the cure.

Speaking of The Cure, this song makes me happy.
The end.

Oh, and I've decided not to worry, but
to simply keep going...

A few more lovely things.

It's pouring rain and cold out so I'm all snuggled up inside with my dog tonight, enjoying my music and working on tackling some things I've put off. :)  I figure I'll feel better one I dive headfirst into the more difficult things rather than procrastinate any more.  Here are a few lovely things on my mind at the moment.....

Enjoy. :)

Free Spirits.
Courageous, passionate, inspirational, kind, imaginative people who don't conform to everything society expects.  They think outside the box.  They follow their hearts.

The free soul is rare, but you know it when you see it-
basically because you feel good, very good
when you are near or with them."
-Charles Bukoski

Grey horses...
the color of clouds, mist and snow.

Peaceful forests.
The play of shadow and light,
paths, scents, and peaceful, melancholy rain.
Mmmm..
Take me there.

 Castles.
Who doesn't love castles?
Enchanting, inspiring residences that seem to only exist
in Europe and the Middle East during
the Middle Ages and in fairy tales. :)

Words.
I'm forever fascinated by words...
the beauty, power and meaning of them.

Love.

Camping.
Sleeping soundly underneath an illuminated sky,
breathing in the fresh night air
with good company,
sweet drinks and starlight.

Sweet Dreams. :)
