Dance yourself clean.

Hiiiiii. :)  I hope you're having a great week, and if not.....

It's a beautiful autumn day in San Francisco, the Giants are playing the World Series about fifteen minutes away this afternoon, the buzz and excitement is in the air, I've finally found a Halloween costume, and life is just good.  Really good. :)

LCD Soundsystem  is a phenomenally fun band to see live, and at both of my recent music festivals they opened up with this song, easily having thousands of people on their feet dancing. Honestly aside from Phish, and various house artists,  I've never seen such levels of people foot stomping, hand waving and rocking out for 90 minutes straight, losing themselves in the music in such a frenzied way.  I was about to leave Treasure Island with my friends but couldn't be pulled away from this song, so I stayed and danced until the end. :)
 Pure...

This song gets better and better every time I hear it.... so much so that I simply cannot get past it to listen to their other tracks. :)  At 2:57 this song kicks in and just goes.... for eight awesome, wow-inducing minutes. :)

And while we're on the topic of San Francisco, I wanted to share this, having found it to be absolutely, adorably funny:

Have a fantatstic day, and while you're at it, go dance yourself clean.... or silly.  Whichever works. ;)

Living in color, part cinq.

First of all, I never thought that I would be doing so many similar posts with this "Living in Color" theme... but as I search the internet for images that I am drawn in unexplainable ways to (and I AM picky with them, as every single image, song, and quote  I find, or entries with my own writing  do relate to me somehow on a personal level), I realize that the amount of "Living in Color" posts I can do is virtually limitless, because there is such an immense amount of beauty and inspiration in this world.  If you missed the first four, go here, here, here and here.

"It is not light that we need but fire;
it is not the gentle shower, but thunder.
We need the storm, the whirlwind,
and the earthquake."
-Frederick Douglas

"Aliveness is energy.  It's the juice, the vitality, and the passion that wakes up our cells every morning.  It's what makes us want to dance.  It's the energy that moves a relationship from the status quo to something grander and much more expansive, something that makes our hearts beat faster, our minds and our eyes open wider, than ever before. Everything is of interest to a person who is truly alive, whether it's a challenge, a loving moment, a bucket of grief, or a glimpse of beauty."
-Daphne Rose Kingma

"Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow.
Yes to dance beneath a diamond sky
with one hand waving free...."
Bon Dylan

"Not all who wander are lost."
-J.R.R.  Tolkein

"I see colors like you hear
jet planes."
-Dave Eggers

"Humans are the only animal that blushes, laughs, has religion, wages war, and kisses with the lips.
So in a way, the more you kiss with lips, the more human you are."
-Jonathan Safran Foer

"As in a tale, so is life; not how long it is,
but how good it is, is what matters."
-Seneca

"Don't bend; don't water it down; don't try to make it logical;
don't edit your own soul according to fashion.  Rather,
follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly."
-Franz Kafka

"Now I see the secret of the making of the best person.
It is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep
with the earth."
-Walt Whitman

"The universe and the light of the stars...
come through me."
-Rumi

"The greatest achievement was first and foremost a dream.
The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and
in the highest vision of the soul,
a waking angel stirs."
-James Allen

"I want to do with you
what spring does
to cherry trees."
-Pablo Neruda

"Stillness is what creates love
Movement is what creates life
To be still
Yet still moving-
That is everything."
-Do Hyun Choe

"Your mind puts out a powerful broadcast of energy.  It determines
how you experience the world and what you create.
Your thoughts are magnetic; they go out from you
and draw you to things you think about.
Your inner dialogue is important, for the way you speak to
yourself determines the events, people
and objects you attract."
-Orin
