To make you possible.

"When I looked at you my life made sense.  Even the bad things made sense.  They were necessary to make you possible."
-Jonathan Safran Foer

"There's something about the look in your eyes
Something I noticed when the light was just right
It reminded me twice that I was alive
And it reminded me that you're so worth the fight

My biggest fear will be the rescue of me
Strange how it turns out that way, yeah

Could you show me dear...

Something I've not seen?
Something infinitely interesting
Could you show me dear...

Something I've not seen?
Something infinitely interesting

Theres something about the way you move
I see your mouth in slow motion when you sing
More subtle than something someone contrives
Your movements echo that I have seen the real thing

Your biggest fear will be the rescue of you
Strange how it turns out that way, yeah

Could you show me dear...

Something I've not seen?
Something infinitely interesting
Could you show me dear...

Something I've not seen?
Something infinitely interesting...."

The relief.

You quiet my hurried mind and somehow close the distance
between the way things are....
and the way I want them to be.

Float me on a silver cloud.

Happy Sunday. :)

I just returned from a wonderful trip back to Rhode Island to see Phish (one of my all time favorite bands), friends, and family.  Five days is never enough but honestly....

But.... why am I living so far away again?  That is a lonnnnng trip!!  Really long.
Despite the eight hours of being glued to a tiny seat, I did get to take some lovely photos.  Where else but on a plane do you get to chase a glorious sunset from the east to the west coast watching it dip from the plains to the mountains, to the Pacific ocean; then finally slip into the horizon leaving trails of pink across the ocean as it vanishes?

There's something beautiful about seeing the sky from well.... the sky. This is why I always recommend window seats. ;)

Here's one of my all-time favorite Phish songs.  I found it at the age of fifteen and would close my eyes and drift away every night to its magic, envisioning a person existing only in daydreams that would in fact, take me to another place, in another time.

"Take me to another place, she said
Take me to another time
Run with me across the oceans
Float me on a silver cloud

If I could I would, but I don't know how
If I could I would, but I don't know how
If I could I would and I'd take you now

Stay with me till time turns over
I want to feel my feet leave the ground
Take me where the whispering breezes
Can lift me up and spin me around

If I could I would...
Hear you laughing as we go
Flipping backward through the doors and through the windows...
I'm melting into nothing

If I could I would, but I don't know how
If I could I would, but I don't know how
If I could I would and I'd take you now"

Ocean ties.

The horror of the recent oil spill in the gulf has both stunned and saddened me, and although I'm not alone in this worrying, I'm left feeling utterly helpless and ashamed.  It is a large misconception that isolated incidents such as oil spills will not harm the rest of the world due to the enormous magnitude of our mysterious waters; absolutely everything on this planet is intricately connected in the delicate earth system.

We depend greatly on our oceans from our nutrition, to our climate, to the very air we breathe, and as powerful as our seas are, they've been revealing their fragility now more than ever. My desperate hope is that we are able to come together with determination like never before to save this perfect ecosystem from devastation before it is far too late.

“All of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and, therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea -- whether it is to sail or to watch it -- we are going back from whence we came.”
-J.F.K.

The beauty of our oceans is undeniable, and the colors existing within them blend harmoniously, creating a soothing and ethereal oasis to the soul. It's been said that going to the sea enforces mental and physical inertia which in turn, brings us back to our true selves, reminding us what's most important in our lives.

In a way when we go to the ocean we are going home, and this is why so many of us are  drawn to sea inspired design.  From aqua to seafoam, to navy, seaweed green, sandy taupe, and seashell white, the colors of the ocean swirl together gorgeously whether they are echoing the brights of the Caribbean or stormy moods of the Antarctic.

Ocean inspired design.
