The ethereal, part trois.

If you missed the first two, go here and here first.
Have a lovely day, and remember to keep your castles in the sky, truths, and daydreams alive. ;)

"Observe the wonders are the occur around you.
Don't claim them.  Feel the artistry and
be silent."
-Rumi

"If I never see you again
I will always carry you
inside
outside
on my fingertips
and at brain edges
and in centers
centers
of what I am
of what remains."
-Charles Bulowski

"Courage lies not in the heat of pursuit.
 But in the moments spent
silent.  Deep in wait."
-Kate Richey

"The moment one gives close attention to anything,
even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious,
awesome, indescribably magnificent world
in itself."
-Henry Miller

"And we danced too wild,
 and we sang too long,
 and we hugged too hard,
and we kissed too sweet,
and threw our heads and howled just as loud
 as we wanted to howl,
because by now we were all old enough
to know that what looks like crazy on an ordinary day,
looks a lot like love if you catch it in the moonlight."
-Pearl Cleag

"Everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats that sail
toward those little isles of yours
that wait for me."
-Pablo Neruda

"What should I do about the wild and the tame?
The wild heart that wants to be free,
and the tame heart that wants to come home.
I want to be held.
I don't want you to come too close.
I want you to scoop me up and
bring me home at night.
I don't want to tell you where I am.
I want to keep a place among the rocks
where no one can find me.
I want to be with you."
-Jeanette Winterson

"But I don't want comfort.
I want God, I want poetry,
I want real danger.
 I want freedom.
 I want sin."
-Aldous Huxley

"It has shown me that everything is illuminated
in the light of the past.
It is always along the side of us....
on the inside, looking out."
-Jonathan Safran Foer

"If I see the outer world differently from how others
see it, it's because I inadvertently incorporate,
into what I see, the things from my dreams
that have stuck to my ears and eyes."
-Fernando Pessoa

"Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet confinement
of your aloneness to learn that anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive is too small for you."
-David Whytel

"Everyone edits themselves here, and it makes me wonder if
you're actually connected to real people, or just the people
they all wish they were."
-unknown
"There is something about words.  In expert hands, manipulated
deftly, they take you prisoner.  Wind themselves around your limbs
like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move,
they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts.
Inside you they work their magic.
-Diane Setterfield

"The appearance of things change according to the emotions,
and thus we see magic and beauty in them,
while the magic and beauty is really
in ourselves."
-Kahil Gibran
"If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together.... there
is something you must always remember.  You are braver
than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter
than you think.  But the most important thing is,
even if we're apart... I'll always
be with you."
-A.A. Milne

The real milestones.

Monday night.  I hope you all had a good day. :)

So I felt inspired all day today. Everything around me was a trigger, deepening the desire to write within me, the pull to get home to find music, find quotes, write down a thought, a dream, a longing, a fear.  But.... now that I'm actually home in bed the only thing I really want is to get a full eight hours of sleep in. :)

"Sooner or later we all discover that the important moments in life are not the advertised ones, not the birthdays, the graduations, the weddings, not the great goals achieved.  The real milestones are less prepossessing.  They come to the door of memory unannounced, like stray dogs that amble in, sniff around a bit, and simply never leave.  Our lives are measured by these."
-Susan B. Anthony

But things are running pretty smoothly right now, and I'm holding on to that sense of accomplishment that everything is under control that can be, and that the real milestones in fact, are the quiet ones.  It's the subtle things that may be seemingly small in that moment that echo loudest later on. So we just go on with the flow of things.  Flowing, learning, changing, evolving, flowing, learning, changing, evolving.... and you know what?

Anyway, I have fallen in love with this cover.... :)  Enjoy.

Wonderwall.

Do we ever really know?  I don't think we do. We're uncertain.  We shift.  We falter.  We do the opposite.  Then we change our minds again....
and again
Human after all. :)

"I just know.  I know these things.  I am always right.
It has got nothing to do with logic: I just feel it.
For example, when I am really close to you like this,
I am not the least bit scared."
-Haruki Murakami

Tonight, what I do know is that I wish to be near a bonfire by the sea,
the taste of mulled wine warming my mouth
and cool November air filling my lungs,
surrounded by people I miss and love.

"Back beat, the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before but you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how
Because maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall"

Sweet dreams. :)

Livin' in the sprawl.

Hi again.  I'm baaack. :) If you were here in San Francisco over the weekend you're probably (still) as tired as me from all of the exciting happenings around here as of late. Halloween and then a World Series win electrified the city for days, filling it to the max with people from the Bay area and beyond, anxious to be a part of the magic and community. Between those two massive city events and my twenty eighth birthday, I do believe I'm ready for some calm and (gasp!) routine to set in again.  Again, as a culture, we tend to spend more but have less, buy more but enjoy less.  I think we've all conquered outer space but not inner space, and it's important to stay focused on wellness and vitality.  And breathing. :)

And friends, can you believe it's already November?  Soon the sunsets will be crimson, the landscape bare, and the air chilled with that sweet winter scent of pine and smoke which is so, so nice.  The cold isn't so fun but it passes, and it's definitely nice to stay warm bundled up with hot drinks, winter coats, boots, and blankets for a few months.

"My heart has far more fire than you can frost to chill,
My soul more love than you can make my soul forget."
-Victor Hugo

This is one of the best covers on youtube right now.  This is Juliana Richer doing Arcade Fire's "Sprawl (Mountains beyond mountains).'

"They heard me singing and they told me to stop,
Quit these pretentious things and just punch the clock,
These days, my life, I feel it has no purpose,
But late at night the feelings swim to the surface.
Cause on the surface the city lights shine,
They're calling at me, "come and find your kind."

Sometimes I wonder if the world's so small,
That we can never get away from the sprawl,
Living in the sprawl,
Dead shopping malls rise like mountains beyond mountains,
And there's no end in sight,
I need the darkness someone please cut the lights.

We rode our bikes to the nearest park,
Sat under the swings, we kissed in the dark,
We shield our eyes from the police lights,
We run away, but we don't know why,
And like a mirror these city lights shine,
They're screaming at us, "we don't need your kind."

Sometimes I wonder if the world's so small,
That we can never get away from the sprawl,
Living in the sprawl,
Dead shopping malls rise like mountains beyond mountains,
And there's no end in sight,
I need the darkness someone please cut the lights.

They heard me singing and they told me to stop,
Quit these pretentious things and just punch the clock.

Sometimes I wonder if the world's so small,
Can we ever get away from the sprawl?
Living in the sprawl,
Dead shopping malls rise like mountains beyond mountains,
And there's no end in sight,
I need the darkness someone please cut the lights."

Have a fantastic day and remember to breathe. :)

And the world spins madly on.

Time was passing like a jet I wanted to be on, whizzing past in a grey blur of noise and wind, whipping up my hair and filling my ears with its loud echo.  I couldn't seem to catch it, to grasp it, to hold on and to fly.  To keep up the pace.  I hope you never step off the way I did.  And I hope you never have to think about what might have been, and what would have been....
the way I do.

"Woke up and wished that I was dead
With an aching in my head
I lay motionless in bed
I thought of you and where you'd gone
and let the world spin madly on

Everything that I said I'd do
Like make the world brand new
And take the time for you
I just got lost and slept right through the dawn
And the world spins madly on

I let the day go by
I always say goodbye
I watch the stars from my window sill
The whole world is moving and I'm standing still

Woke up and wished that I was dead
With an aching in my head
I lay motionless in bed
The night is here and the day is gone
And the world spins madly on

I thought of you and where you'd gone
And the world spins madly on."
