Livin' in the sprawl.

Hi again.  I'm baaack. :) If you were here in San Francisco over the weekend you're probably (still) as tired as me from all of the exciting happenings around here as of late. Halloween and then a World Series win electrified the city for days, filling it to the max with people from the Bay area and beyond, anxious to be a part of the magic and community. Between those two massive city events and my twenty eighth birthday, I do believe I'm ready for some calm and (gasp!) routine to set in again.  Again, as a culture, we tend to spend more but have less, buy more but enjoy less.  I think we've all conquered outer space but not inner space, and it's important to stay focused on wellness and vitality.  And breathing. :)

And friends, can you believe it's already November?  Soon the sunsets will be crimson, the landscape bare, and the air chilled with that sweet winter scent of pine and smoke which is so, so nice.  The cold isn't so fun but it passes, and it's definitely nice to stay warm bundled up with hot drinks, winter coats, boots, and blankets for a few months.

"My heart has far more fire than you can frost to chill,
My soul more love than you can make my soul forget."
-Victor Hugo

This is one of the best covers on youtube right now.  This is Juliana Richer doing Arcade Fire's "Sprawl (Mountains beyond mountains).'

"They heard me singing and they told me to stop,
Quit these pretentious things and just punch the clock,
These days, my life, I feel it has no purpose,
But late at night the feelings swim to the surface.
Cause on the surface the city lights shine,
They're calling at me, "come and find your kind."

Sometimes I wonder if the world's so small,
That we can never get away from the sprawl,
Living in the sprawl,
Dead shopping malls rise like mountains beyond mountains,
And there's no end in sight,
I need the darkness someone please cut the lights.

We rode our bikes to the nearest park,
Sat under the swings, we kissed in the dark,
We shield our eyes from the police lights,
We run away, but we don't know why,
And like a mirror these city lights shine,
They're screaming at us, "we don't need your kind."

Sometimes I wonder if the world's so small,
That we can never get away from the sprawl,
Living in the sprawl,
Dead shopping malls rise like mountains beyond mountains,
And there's no end in sight,
I need the darkness someone please cut the lights.

They heard me singing and they told me to stop,
Quit these pretentious things and just punch the clock.

Sometimes I wonder if the world's so small,
Can we ever get away from the sprawl?
Living in the sprawl,
Dead shopping malls rise like mountains beyond mountains,
And there's no end in sight,
I need the darkness someone please cut the lights."

Have a fantastic day and remember to breathe. :)
